Marigold Costume Hire

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully - they inform you of what we will be providing, and your responsibilities when in possession of our costumes.

Hire by Individuals

All hire costumes require a security bond in the form of debit or credit card details. These will be securely kept until full return of the items in a condition which the company considers acceptable and on the date agreed.

As an alternative to debit or credit card details, a refundable security bond amounting to the full replacement value of the items hired, may be paid in cash.

A cheque will only be accepted as security if it has cleared by the time the hire period begins, therefore five working days should be allowed between receipt of the cheque and collection or despatch of the costumes.

In the event of loss or damage to the costume, the replacement or repair costs will be charged to the debit or credit card, or deducted from the cash/cheque bond.

In case of excessive staining or soiling, the security bond will be kept until the item is laundered and the company is satisfied that the item can be restored to it's original condition. This will be confirmed within one week.

The standard hire period is three days. If a costume is returned late, an additional hire fee may be charged, pro-rata of the original hire fee. If a costume is not returned within 14 days of the due date, it will be deemed lost, and the full replacement cost plus an administration fee will be charged to your debit or credit card, or deducted from your cash/cheque bond.

Some costumes available for hire are valuable, period items. The hire of costumes is at Marigold's discretion and we reserve the right to refuse to enter into a hire agreement.

The hirer must not alter, launder or customise costumes.

If a hirer reserves and pays for a costume, but does not collect it by the end of the agreed hire period, the costume will be dismantled and the full hire fee retained by the company.

If a hirer cancels an order before the collection date but after the order has been processed, a discretionary fee of £10 - £20 per costume will be charged.

Footwear is hired and worn at the customer's own risk. This does not affect your statutory rights as a customer.

Marigold cannot guarantee that every costume has been fireproofed, therefore care must be taken when wearing the costume.

Hire by Mail Order

We are pleased to offer mail order and want our customers to be delighted by both our costumes and our service.

As well as the above, the following additional conditions apply to telephone and online hires.

Your order will leave the Marigold depot 1-2 days before the start of the agreed hire period and will therefore be expected to be back in the depot 1-2 days after the last hire day.

Marigold will supply costumes according to the measurements provided by the hirer, and cannot be held responsible for garments later deemed to be unsuitable or ill-fitting. A refund will not be given in this case. Care should be taken when measuring to allow for a comfortable fit, considering the purpose for which the costume is intended.

• Measurements - a form is available online for you to fax, email or post back to us.

• Delivery - a courier service will be used in both directions.

• Fee - the full hire fee plus delivery will be charged whether or not the costume has been used.

Hire by Organisations

The hire of costumes by organisations such as schools, colleges, theatre and production companies is bound by a separate contract, to be discussed and issued as part of the hire procedure..

Purchase of Pre-packaged Items by Mail Order

Athough we try to update the website regularly, our stock of pre-packaged costumes and accessories constantly changes. If we cannot supply the item you need, we will always try to offer an appropriate alternative.

Goods bought by mail order may be returned if unopened and unused, at the buyer's expense, for a full refund (excluding postage) within 14 days of receipt. This does not affect your statutory rights.
